Christmas donation 2013 to Aktion Deutschland Hilft
On November 8, 2013, hurricane Haiyan hit the Philippines with wind gusts of up to 275 kilometers per hour and heavy rain. Initial estimates put the number of people affected at ten million. CARE employee Celso Dulce reports from Manila: “Thousands of people have been evacuated. Many houses in the coastal areas of Leyte and Samar have been flooded. Roads are blocked by fallen trees, countless people are fleeing.”
Aktion Deutschland Hilft is an association of German aid organizations that work together to provide fast and effective help in the event of major disasters and emergencies abroad. The organizations involved are pooling their extensive experience in humanitarian aid abroad in order to further optimize the previous successful work.
